There are times when my kids could spend hours in the bathtub and times when it is a fight to get them in long enough to get them clean. Adding a little food coloring to the water usually entices them to jump in and get washed.
If we have time, we add a little learning to our bathtime with color mixing.

I like to do color mixing in the bath, because there always seems to be a little spillage of water. After they are done, they dump their mixed colors into the bathtub creating colored water.
It’s really easy to set up and the kids find it a lot of fun.
Fill two cups with water.
Add food coloring to the water. We did blue and yellow and then blue and red.
Pour a little of each color into a 3rd cup until you reach the desired color.
We mixed yellow and blue to make green. We also did red and blue and got purple.
My son wanted to do a little experimenting and tried mixing green and yellow.
He was surprised to find that it only turned light green. I explained that they are next to each other on the color wheel.
I love finding simple and easy activities for the kids to do at home. I was thrilled to participate a 30 Day Simple Play at Home series hosted by Adventures of Adam. You will find simple play activities for each room of your home.
