We love doing crafts and activities inspired by movies and books. We completed Kung Fu Panda inspired crafts and activities a few weeks ago and have been excited to get started on a Finding Dory inspired craft.
The kid were super excited to see Finding Dory, the sequel to Finding Nemo, lately. They loved Finding Dory and have been talking about it nonstop. We channeled their excitement into a Finding Dory handprint craft.
The kids grow so fast, so we love to capture their little handprints on art projects and keepsakes as often as we can. Nemo and Dory make the perfect handprint craft.

To get started gather all your supplies:
- Blue paint
- Yellow paint
- Orange paint
- White paint
- Paint brush (we used sponge paint brushes)
- Cotton swab
- Googly eye
- Black marker
- Cardstock paper
- Optional: green paper for seaweed and sand for bottom
We used acrylic paints and washed the paint off our hands right away. Acrylic paints go on brighter and thicker, but tempera paints would work as well.
Directions:
1.For Dory, paint the palm of your child’s hand blue and a small part of their fingers. Paint the top portion of the fingers yellow. Press their hand onto the paper.
We painted the right hand, so that the thumb sticks down as Dory’s fin. Allow to dry.
2. For Nemo, paint your child’s hand orange and press onto the paper leaving their handprint. Allow to dry.
3. Once the Nemo handprint fish has dried, use a cotton swab and paint three white stripes. Allow to dry.
4. Once the white stripes on Nemo dry, draw black lines on either side of the stripes.
5. Glue googly eyes to both fish.
6. (Optional) Apply a strip of glue along the bottom of the paper and sprinkle sand on the paper; shake off excess sand. Cut pieces of seaweed from green paper and glue to the paper with the handprint fish.
