We love all holidays, but the summer holidays top my list in terms of favorites. I know Memorial Day is not officially summer, but it always feels like the start of summer. I love what Memorial Day and Independence Day represent. How great is it that we can celebrate our freedom and honor those that have fought and are fighting for that freedom. Our troops now and in the past have given so much and sacrificed greatly to make our nation a great country.

As we celebrate our freedom and reflect on the sacrifices made this summer, consider saying thank you to our troops both past and present by sending a thank you card and/or care package.
We have been talking about doing this with our Sunday School classes. We thought it would be good to get the kids involved and send cards to our church members, who are deployed. I decided to get the ball rolling and created this card.
We love putting together fun packages and gifts and adding a nice note or tag to brighten someone’s day. With this military care package we created a free printable thank you card and hope to inspire others to send care packages and thank our troops for their service.
I have a couple of blogging colleagues, Raising Superheroes and Play Dough & Popsicles, who both had husbands deployed and have sent many care packages. They gave me some great suggestions for sending military care packages. I asked what their husbands’ favorite things were to receive in a care package. They said the top items are candy, beef jerky, and hot sauce.
How to put together your military care package:
1. Print the thank you card and sign your name.
You could also write a personal note on the back or encourage kids to draw a picture.

2. Put items together in a box and place the card on top.
Themed boxes are a lot fun to put together and receive.
We put together a snack box that includes Skittles America Mix, peanuts, beef jerky, drink mix, hot sauce, gum, granola bars, sunflower seeds, and other candy.
We ordered two big bags of limited edition Skittles America Mix from Amazon. Amazon Prime made it so easy to have the Skittles America Mix shipped right to our house. The Skittles America Mix is the same Skittles sweetness, now in signature American colors.

3. Seal the box and mail.
We reused our Amazon box that the Skittles America Mix were shipped in for our military care packages.
