I love easy desserts and dirt cake is one of our favorites!  I modified our traditional dirt cake recipe to make it work for fall.

This pumpkin patch dirt cake is perfect for all the potlucks and gatherings we have in the fall. It always gets lots of compliments from all ages.

As an added bonus, this dessert is perfect for the kids to help make since it does not involve the stove top or oven. They can help by adding ingredients to the mixing bowl, stirring, and layering the ingredients for the dirt cake.

Ingredients

  • 2 small (3.90z) packages of instant chocolate pudding
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1 16oz container frozen whipped topping (thawed)
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1-2 packages of Oreo cookies
  • Mellowcreme Pumpkins

Directions

  1. Combine instant pudding and milk.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese and butter together and add to pudding.
  3. Fold the whipped topping into the mixture.
  4. Process Oreos in a food processor until they resemble dirt.
  5. Layer 1/2 of cookies (dirt) in bottom of 9×13 casserole dish, add pudding mixture, and top with another layer of cookies (dirt).
  6. Line pumpkins on top of cake to resemble a pumpkin patch.
