After we had our last child, I decided it was time to revamp my wardrobe or what was left of it. After three babies not much fit. What did fit was out of style and my personal style had become was lost in the sea of maternity clothes and wear whatever you can get into.
I began searching for fashion blogs to glean inspiration for the overhaul of my closet. I was on the search for bloggers who posted about what they wore in everyday life; especially as a SAHM. I love high fashion, but it does not fit in my life. I wore a Maxi dress causally last summer while running errands. While out, I bumped into a friend, who asked me why I was so dressed up. I could just image the response I would get if I sported a pair of stilettos.
I found several fashion blogs that I enjoy visiting, but there are three that I love and have drawn a lot of inspiration from in revamping my wardrobe.
Outfit Posts~This is my favorite, favorite, favorite fashion blog! I only wish I knew about it when I was working. Her clothes are affordable and from places I shop at: Target, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Loft to name a few. She has a mix of work and casual clothes. She travels a lot for work and has created great “One Suitcase” series.
Walking in Grace and Beauty ~ Cyndi blogs about fashion for women over 40 inspiring women to be beautiful from the inside out. Just a few shorts week ago I entered the 40 category, but I have been following her blog for over a year. Her style is classic and can translate to many ages. She does a month long series at the start of each season where she showcases what she wore each day of the month giving us inspiration for the upcoming season. She just finished her spring series and styled pieces she bought from Target to make it affordable for all of us.
Putting Me Together~Audrey shows us how to remix her closet. She loves Target and gives us a heads up on great finds from Target. She led me to these Target tan wedge sandals last summer. I loved, loved, loved them and wore them all summer.
Stalking Following these blogs helped me rediscover who I am and what my style is. I thought I would share what I wear each week in hopes that it may inspire someone else with easy/wearable outfits. One thing that my husband (yes husband) reminded me about fashion on my journey to rediscovering my style was that it is personal and not every trend works for every person. I tried doing leopard, but I never felt like me wearing leopard.
On to what I wore this last week. Many days I wear yoga pants and a tee, but about three days a week I throw aside my mommy uniform for something nicer. I am usually headed to church, kid activities, appointments and errand running on these days.
I am not sure what happened this week with all the black. I did not plan this. Actually there are many mornings that I am so busy getting everyone else ready that I have just seconds to throw something together to wear myself. Somehow I managed to wear black everyday this week with almost no color and I am a color person (especially in the spring).
