I won’t be passing any white glove tests, but I like to keep the house clean and organized. With three kids, their friends, and five pets, it’s hard some days to stay on top of housework.
I could spend the good part of each day cleaning and scrubbing floors, but my to do list is long and I would rather be taking care of and playing with the kids.
There are a few simple and quick things we do daily to stay on top of the housework and set the stage for a clean and organized home.
Some of these tasks not only help keep the home tidier, but put you in a clean home mind set.

We focus on these five target areas to keep our house tidy, organized, and running smoothly.
1. Make Beds
Personally I’m one of those people who cannot sleep in an unmade bed, so mine gets made for that reason alone. The rest of the family does not have that problem, but there beds get made each morning. An unmade bed makes the whole
room look messy and untidy. An unmade bed is an invitation to be sloppy. If we take the time to make our bed, we are more likely to keep everything else in our room picked and put away for the remainder of the day.
2. Do the Dishes
With a family of five, we can go through a lot of dishes in a day. There are times when we are all home that the dishwasher gets run twice in one day. We have to stay on top of dishes or we would quickly run out.
The dishes are the same as the bed. When the dishes are done and the counters clean, it feels like the whole room is clean. If dirty dishes are left in the sink, we fall prey to the “what’s one more” and before we know it the sink is overflowing onto the counters with dirty dishes.
3. Sweep the Floors
Between the animals and the kids tracking in and out of the house all day, our main living areas can get pretty dirty, not to mention the shedding from the animals.
With three kids, pets, and a busy life, I need something that will help me knock out this daily task quickly. We love Bona products and use them to keep our hardwood floors clean and was excited to try one of their new products.
The Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths make cleaning the floors daily and quick and easy job.
They provide a quick fix clean, featuring a 3D design that utilizes thousands of fluffy fibers to effectively lock away dust, dirt and pet hair. You don’t need a Bona mop to use the Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths, they fit the Bona Family of Mops and are compatible to competitive stick mops. They work on hardwood floors as well as stone, tile, and laminate.
4. Stay Organized
Our lives are busy, we don’t have time to hunt stuff down. We need everything to be in it’s place and ready to grab. Between the five of us and all the pets, we have a lot of stuff.
We make sure everything has a place and everyone knows where it is. We have several organizational systems in our home. Our entry closet acts as one. When we enter our house, we place our shoes on the rack and hang our coats and bags up. The kids have organization systems in their rooms and closets for their toys. We have cabinets for games and puzzles. We have a place for mail, bills, and paperwork.
5. Wipe Down Counters
Counters get dirty and gross quickly in both the kitchen and bathrooms. Wiping down the counters daily helps prepare for use the next day and makes you feel better about using your kitchen and bathroom.
