Are you storing the clothing your children have outgrown? Could you use a little extra cash? I have been working my through seven different ways to sell your children’s clothing and make money. The next method to explore is the resale shop.
Resale shops buy and sell children’s gently used clothing, shoes, toys, and baby gear. They offer you the opportunity to make money recycling your children’s gently used items with just a little work on your part.
Prepare your clothing by making sure they are clean, in good condition, and from the last 3-5 years (varies from resale shop). Neatly place your gently used clean clothing in a box or tote and take it to a nearby resale shop. Resale shop owners/employees will go through your items. Sometimes they will do it while you wait; other times you have to come back. They chose what they want and offer you a price.
There are a few drawbacks to selling your gently used children’s clothing to a resale shop. Unless you ask, you have no idea what they are offering for each item. The amount you are offered is low compared to what you could make if you sold it yourself at a consignment sale or on Facebook. You are offered a slightly higher amount if you chose store credit rather than cash. They only take clothing for the current season or the upcoming season. Resale shops get a lot of stuff and are therefore very picky on what they will accept if anything. Call ahead or check their website to find out what they are currently accepting.
While there are several drawbacks, the work you do is minimal compared to other ways you could earn money from selling your children’s gently used clothing.
Little Sprouts Resale is an online kids resale boutique that works much the same way. You email them a description of some of the items you have. They send you prepaid mailer. You prepare your items and mail them in the prepaid mailer. Upon arrival, Little Sprouts Resale evaluates your items and makes an offer either in cash or store credit. Unwanted items can be returned to you at your cost.
