Cost: under $5
- Sponge-cheap sponge from the dollar store works
- Paint-we used red
- Card stock
- Scissors-it helps to have a good pair of scissors to cut the sponge
Directions:
This project is great for all kids staring at toddlers. It’s a simple project with just a couple of steps, perfect for kids who cannot follow complex and multiple steps.
- Cut the sponge so it resembles a heart. (I did this step ahead of time.) I free handed a heart, but you could use a heart shaped cookie cutter and trace the pattern onto the sponge.
- Dip sponge in paint .
- Stamp hearts on the paper pressing the heart shaped sponge firmly onto the paper.
Learning & Development:
It’s often really easy to incorporate a little learning into crafts without kids knowing or interrupting the process of crafting. You can talk about the shape (heart) and color (red or whatever color you choose) you are using for this project as you are setting the project up, as your child is painting, or as you are gushing over his/her masterpiece.
