The kids are getting excited and ready to start counting down the days until Santa comes. We attended the annual Santa parade last weekend and the kids saw Santa from a distance. They are anxious to see him in person and rattle off their Christmas lists.
In the meantime, we made a Santa Hat Kid Craft using styrofoam cups.
We made a few different styrofoam cup kid crafts for Thanksgiving: Styrofoam Pilgrim Hat, Styrofoam Turkey & Indian Hat, and Styrofoam Handprint Turkey. We decided to continue our styrofoam cup crafts into Christmas.
Styrofoam cups are very inexpensive. I bought a big bag of them from the Dollar Tree. You can also buy the cotton balls from the Dollar Tree, making this a very inexpensive craft project.

Supplies:
- Styrofoam cups
- Cotton balls
- Red paint
- School glue
Directions:
1. Paint the cup red and allow to dry.
2. Apply glue to the bottom of your cup, which will become the top of your hat, and apply a cotton ball.
3. Apply glue around the rim of the cup (where you would drink). Stretch cotton balls around the rim.
This is a very easy and simple craft project that does not require a lot of instruction or adult help.
Here’s one that my preschooler made.
