You Might Have a Tween If…

The tween years can sneak up and leave you confused. You might have a tween if you can identify with any of these. Offering a little humor and insight into the tween years.

We studied every book we could get our hands on and attended every course we could find prior to having children. We were like sponges eager to soak up whatever we could find to prepare us for parenting.   We had our baby, survived the toddler years, and sailed through the next few years. And then it happened.  School let out for the summer and it was as if the school sent us a different child.  I kept asking myself where my little boy had gone. I found myself doing ... continue reading...

Plastic Easter Egg Towers Stem Challenge

Challenge kids to an Easter egg tower STEM challenge using plastic Easter eggs.

This post contains affiliate links. See my Disclosure Policy for details. Our kids love to build. They have big name building sets including LEGO, K'NEX, and Rector Sets, but some of their best structures come from random things laying around, as evidenced in this image on Instagram.  The popular random item at our house right now and every year around Easter is plastic Easter eggs. The kids love to play with these, so I decided to combine their love for these eggs and their love ... continue reading...

Teen Boy Easter Basket and 20+ Ways to Fill It

Easter is quickly approaching and I'm trying to finalize preparations. Easter baskets are a big part of our Easter day traditions. I like to buy the kids Easter baskets that are usable beyond Easter. It saves me from donating or storing them until the next year. In past years, I have bought plastic buckets for Easter baskets, so that they can use them in the sandbox after Easter.  This year, I had the youngest two with me, when I purchased the baskets, which meant my plans which a ... continue reading...

Easy Toilet Paper Roll Bird Feeder Craft

We had beautiful weather this weekend, so I pulled out the supplies to make a toilet paper roll bird feeder craft and asked the kids if they wanted to make them. I got one taker.  As we were finishing, the oldest said, "that looks fun, I thought you were doing a boring activity." He's not much of a crafter; even your non crafty kids will enjoy this project.  This post contains affiliate links. See my Disclosure Policy for details. The kids enjoyed making bird seed ... continue reading...

20+ Easter Basket Fillers Toddlers and Preschoolers Will Love

Lots of great ideas for filling toddler and preschooler Easter baskets that are not candy.

Growing up we always had an Easter basket full of candy. We had the traditional chocolate bunny, jelly beans, peeps, chocolate eggs, robin eggs, cadbury eggs, and peanut butter eggs. That's a lot of eggs! I don't know how mom did it. We lived on a big farm, so maybe she sent us outside to burn off the sugar.  Fast forward several years and no farm to burn off a sugar high, so I'm always on the hunt for non candy wasys to fill our kids'Easter baskets. We always include the ... continue reading...
